Eligibility Criteria
First Year Diploma (Regular)

Must have passed Class 10 (SSLC) or an equivalent examination from Tamil Nadu State Board (TNSB), CBSE, ICSE, or any other recognized board.
- Candidates belonging to Tamil Nadu are given admission preference.
- No minimum percentage cutoff is officially specified; admission is purely merit-based on total SSLC marks.
Lateral Entry (Direct Second Year)
Part-Time Diploma
- Must have passed Class 10 and have at least 2 years of relevant work experience in an engineering sector.
- Candidates must have been employed within a 90-kilometre radius of the institution they are applying to.
- Note: Employees of Government offices and Public Sector Undertakings in Tirunelveli and Palayamkottai are exempt from the distance criterion for Government Polytechnic, Thoothukudi (Tuticorin).
