The Telangana Public Service Commission (TGPSC) has released Notification No. 06/G/TP/2026, dated 10/07/2026, for the General Recruitment of Town Planning Assistant in the Town and Country Planning Department. A total of 7 vacancies have been notified across State Level and Multi-Zonal cadres. Online applications open on July 15, 2026, and the examination is tentatively scheduled for October 2026.

TGPSC Town Planning Assistant Vacancy Details

The 7 vacancies are split between a State Level post and a Multi-Zonal post, each governed by different local reservation rules.

Note: As per G.O.Ms.No.86, G.A.(Ser.A) Department, Dt. 18/05/2026, the upper age limit for this post has been raised by 10 years, from 34 to 44 years. The number of vacancies is provisional and subject to variation; additions before the exam will be notified through an addendum, and deletions can be made up to the declaration of final selection.

TGPSC Town Planning Assistant Eligibility Criteria

To be eligible for this recruitment, applicants must satisfy citizenship, character, and educational qualification requirements as prescribed in the notification.

  • The applicant’s character and antecedents must qualify them for the service.
  • The applicant must possess the prescribed academic and other qualifications for the post.
  • The applicant must be a citizen of India.

Educational Qualification

The applicant must possess the prescribed academic qualification as on the date of notification, i.e., 10/07/2026.

Degrees obtained through Open Universities or Distance Education mode must be recognized by the UGC, AICTE, or Distance Education Bureau, as applicable. The result of the qualifying examination must have been declared by the concerned university as on the date of notification; mere conduct of the exam or processing of results does not fulfil the qualification requirement.

Age Limit

Age is reckoned as on 01/07/2026, as per Rule 12(1)(a)(v) of the Telangana State and Subordinate Service Rules, 1996.

No person is eligible if they are less than 18 years old or have crossed 61 years of age (superannuation age).

Age Relaxation

Even after availing eligible relaxations, no candidate can exceed the maximum age limit for this post as on 01/07/2026.

Selected candidates will draw a salary as per the pay scale notified for the post.

TGPSC Town Planning Assistant Exam Pattern

The written examination is objective type, conducted either in OMR-based offline mode or as a Computer Based Recruitment Test (CBRT), and consists of two papers.

For Computer Based Tests conducted in multiple sessions, the Commission normalizes scores across sessions using a normalization formula, and results are declared on a percentile basis.

TGPSC Town Planning Assistant Syllabus (Overview)

Paper-I covers General Studies and General Abilities, including current affairs, Indian and Telangana history, geography, polity, governance, and reasoning. Paper-II covers Planning at degree level, including demography and urbanization, environmental planning, disaster management, urban governance, traffic and transportation planning, planning legislation, regional planning, housing, GIS, and current planning trends. TGPSC Town Planning Assistant Application Fee

The application involves two separate online payments: an application processing fee and an examination fee.

All unemployed applicants are exempted from the examination fee; however, employees of any Government (Central/State/PSU/Corporations/Other Government Sector) must pay it. Payment can be made online via Net Banking, Debit Card, Credit Card, or UPI. Fees once paid are not refunded or adjusted under any circumstances.

TGPSC Town Planning Assistant Selection Process

Selection is based purely on marks secured in the objective-type written examination, followed by merit-based allotment.

  • Written Examination (Objective Type) conducted via CBRT or OMR-based mode.
  • Qualifying marks: OC, Sportspersons & EWS — not less than 40%; BC — not less than 35%; SC, ST & PH — not less than 30%.
  • Candidates are selected and allotted posts as per merit and order of preference (web-options) against available vacancies.
  • Appointment is subject to being declared medically fit and willingness to serve anywhere in Telangana State.

Merely securing the minimum qualifying marks does not guarantee selection. There is no waiting list for this recruitment.

How to Apply for TGPSC Town Planning Assistant Recruitment 2026

  1. Visit the official website: tgpsc.gov.in
  2. New applicants must complete One Time Registration (OTR) to obtain a TGPSC ID; already-registered applicants can log in directly with their existing TGPSC ID.
  3. Click on the Online Application Link, log in with TGPSC ID, Date of Birth, and OTP sent to the registered mobile number.
  4. Verify auto-fetched OTR details such as Name, Date of Birth, Educational Qualifications, Community, Gender, Disability, and Ex-Servicemen/Sports status.
  5. Select the preferred examination centre.
  6. Preview the application and click SAVE & PAYMENT to proceed to fee payment.
  7. Pay the prescribed application processing fee and examination fee (if applicable) via Net Banking, Debit Card, Credit Card, or UPI.
  8. Download and save the system-generated PDF application form, noting the Reference ID Number for future correspondence.

Important: OTR is not considered an application by itself; a separate online application must be submitted for this specific notification. No changes to the application are possible after clicking CONFIRM & SUBMIT.

TGPSC Town Planning Assistant: Important Instructions

  • Handwritten, typed, photostat, or outside-printed application forms will not be accepted; only the prescribed online mode is valid.
  • Government/PSU/autonomous body employees must submit a No Objection Certificate from their employer when required.
  • Any electronic gadgets, including mobile phones, smartwatches, calculators, and Bluetooth devices, are strictly banned inside the examination hall.
  • Furnishing false or incorrect information at any stage will lead to rejection of candidature or debarment from future TGPSC examinations.
  • Candidates can raise objections on the provisional answer key online by paying ₹500 per question; the fee is refunded if the objection is upheld.
  • After results, candidates can obtain their Memorandum of Marks online for ₹200 within 30 days; requests for revaluation are not entertained.
