CBT 1 of RRB Assistant Loco Pilot Selection Process 2026

CBT-1 is the first screening stage in RRB ALP Selection Process 2026. It is a qualifying test conducted to shortlist candidates for CBT-2. The exam is of 60 minutes duration with 75 objective-type questions.

CBT-1 Exam Pattern:

  • Negative Marking: 1/3rd for every wrong answer
  • Minimum Qualifying Marks: UR & EWS – 40%, OBC(NCL) – 30%, SC/ST – 30%/25%
  • Candidates are shortlisted 15 times the number of vacancies for CBT-2

CBT 2 of RRB ALP Selection Process 2026

Candidates who qualify for CBT-1 appear for CBT-2. This is the main scoring stage.

CBT-2 Exam Pattern:

Part A Syllabus: Mathematics, General Intelligence & Reasoning, Basic Science & Engineering

Part B: Trade-related questions (Qualifying in nature)

Only marks of Part A are considered for merit along with CBAT.

Computer-Based Aptitude Test (CBAT) in RRB ALP Selection Process 2026

Candidates who qualify CBT-2 are called for CBAT (8 times the vacancies). This test evaluates the candidate’s suitability for the safety-critical role of Assistant Loco Pilot.

  • No negative marking
  • Must qualify each test battery separately (Minimum T-Score of 42 in each)
  • Qualifying in CBAT is mandatory

Document Verification in RRB ALP Selection Process 2026

Candidates who clear CBAT are called for Document Verification. They must produce all original documents including educational certificates, caste certificate, age proof, and medical self-declaration. Failure to produce valid documents leads to cancellation of candidature.

Medical Examination in RRB ALP Selection Process 2026

Candidates must meet the stringent A-1 Medical Standard:

  • Distant Vision: 6/6, 6/6 without glasses
  • Must pass Colour Vision, Night Vision, and other critical tests
  • Candidates who have undergone LASIK or any corrective eye surgery are not eligible

Selected candidates undergo rigorous training as prescribed by the Railway Administration. During the training period, only stipend is paid. Upon successful completion of training and passing all required tests, candidates are appointed as Assistant Loco Pilot.
