PM Internship Scheme 2026: Apply Online, Eligibility, Stipend & Last Date

PM Internship Scheme (PMIS) 2026: A Government of India internship programme run by the Ministry of Corporate Affairs, placing youth aged 18–25 in 6–9 month internships at India’s top 500 companies under a rolling application model. Selected interns receive a ₹9,000/month stipend plus a one-time ₹6,000 joining grant. Apply online at the official PMIS portal.

What is the PM Internship Scheme?

The PM Internship Scheme was launched on October 3, 2024, following its announcement in the Union Budget 2024–25. It is administered by the Ministry of Corporate Affairs (MCA) and aims to give 1 crore young Indians hands-on internship experience over five years. Partner companies are selected from India’s top 500 firms ranked by CSR spending, spanning sectors such as banking, oil and gas, automotive, FMCG, infrastructure, and hospitality.

The scheme now runs on a Rolling Model: rather than fixed annual rounds, participating companies post internships continuously with their own defined start and end dates, and candidates apply to whichever listings are currently open.

PM Internship Scheme 2026 Registration Website & Apply Online Process

Here’s a step-by-step guide to applying on the pminternship.mca.gov.in 2026 portal:

  • Browse before logging in: Visit the official portal and explore listings. Before completing e-KYC, you can see basic details (qualification required, location, duration, benefits) but not the full job description or the Apply button.
  • Register: Click Login/Register → New User/Register Now. Enter your mobile number, verify via OTP, and set a password (minimum 8 characters with one uppercase, one lowercase, one digit, and one special character).
  • Complete e-KYC: Verify your identity via Aadhaar OTP or DigiLocker. This unlocks full internship descriptions and the Apply button.
  • Complete your profile: Personal details (auto-fetched name/DOB/gender from e-KYC, plus father/mother/guardian name, category, address, contact details), educational qualifications in completion order (10th → 12th → ITI/Diploma → Graduation, as applicable) with certificate uploads, and your skills and languages.
  • Build your CV: The portal auto-generates a CV from your profile. You can edit the summary, skills, experience, and certifications, then download it as a PDF.
  • Search and apply: Filter internships by state, district, sector, and field, or search by keyword. View details, then click Apply Now. You can optionally upload a 30–45 second introduction video.
  • Submit the declaration: Confirm the eligibility declarations (no government-employee family member, income limits, not in full-time education/employment, etc.) and consent to data processing.
  • Track and respond to offers: Monitor your application status on the Candidate Dashboard. If selected, review the offer letter and accept or reject it from your dashboard.

Note: Registration and application are completely free. Make sure your Aadhaar is seeded with your bank account, since all stipend payments are made via DBT.

Documents Required for PMIS Application

  • Aadhaar Card
  • Educational certificates (10th, 12th, graduation, as applicable)
  • Bank account details (for stipend transfer via DBT)
  • Passport-size photograph
  • Income certificate or self-declaration
  • Caste certificate, if applicable
  • NOC from institution (for final-year students)

Application & Offer Rules (Important)

The Rolling Model comes with specific limits candidates should know before applying:

  • Application limit: You can have a maximum of 3 active applications at any time. An application counts as active if it’s Applied, Shortlisted, Waitlisted, Selected, or Offer Accepted/Joined. Once one is rejected or not shortlisted, that slot frees up for a new application.
  • Offer limit: You can hold a maximum of 2 active offer letters at once, but you can accept only one.
  • Acceptance window: An offer must be accepted within 14 days, or it lapses automatically.
  • Switching offers: If you’ve accepted one of two offers, you can withdraw it and accept the other – but only within 15 days of your original acceptance.
  • Once accepted: You cannot apply to further internships, and other pending applications/offers get blocked.
  • Joining: You must join by the reporting date in your offer letter. There’s a 14-day grace period after that; missing it too results in an automatic “Did Not Report” (DNR) status on the 15th day.
  • Drop-out policy: If you’re terminated by a company during an internship, you cannot rejoin PMIS. If you drop out once, you get one more chance; a second drop-out makes you permanently ineligible.

Companies, Roles & Locations

PMIS partners with India’s top 500 companies by CSR expenditure. On the portal, each internship card shows the organization name, role, internship ID, sector, state, and benefits, and you can open a company’s page to see its overview, internship listings, and intern testimonials before applying. You can also compare up to 3 internships side by side (stipend, location, accommodation, transport) and pin favorites for quick access.

PM Internship Scheme 2026 Last Date

Because PMIS runs on a rolling basis, there’s no single annual deadline – individual listings have their own application start and end dates, and close once a company’s seats are filled. It’s best to apply as soon as you find a suitable opening rather than waiting for a “final date.” Check the portal’s Guidelines and FAQ sections for the current status of any announced round.

Tips for Applicants

  • Complete your profile to 100% before applying – incomplete profiles can’t apply, and the CV builder pulls directly from your profile data

  • Enable device location on the portal to see internships ranked by distance

  • Keep your introduction video short (30–45 seconds): name, course, 1–2 relevant skills, and why you want the role

  • Complete Aadhaar seeding with your bank account early through the portal’s NPCI BASE link, since this is required for timely stipend disbursement

  • Use the PMIS Buddy chatbot on the portal for quick answers on e-KYC, application status, or offer timelines instead of waiting on the helpline
