The National Investigation Agency (NIA), Ministry of Home Affairs, Government of India has officially issued No. E-79/001/Dep-Scientific/NIA/2026 (CF No. 5282)/4537 dated 13/04/2026 inviting nominations to fill up 30 Scientific posts on Deputation (ISTC) basis at NIA Establishment. The notification covers five posts – Technical Forensic Psychologist (03), Finger Print Expert (01), Explosive Expert (02), Cyber Forensic Examiner (18), and Crime Scene Assistant (06) – with detailed eligibility criteria in Annexures I-A to I-E. NIA Scientific Posts Deputation Recruitment 2026 – Vacancy Details

A total of 30 vacancies (subject to variation) have been announced across 5 Scientific posts on Deputation (ISTC) basis at NIA Establishment. All posts under General Central Service, Group-A (Gazetted, Non-Ministerial) except Crime Scene Assistant which is Group-B (Non-Gazetted).

NIA Scientific Posts Deputation Recruitment 2026 – Eligibility Criteria

Only officers of the Central Government / State Government / Universities / Recognized Research Institutions / Union Territories / Public Sector Undertakings / Semi-Government, Statutory or Autonomous Organisations are eligible to apply on deputation (ISTC) basis. The maximum age limit for appointment by deputation (ISTC) shall not exceed 56 years as on the closing date of receipt of applications. Period of deputation (ISTC) including any prior ISTC deputation period shall ordinarily not exceed 3 years.

Common Deputation Service Eligibility (applicable to all posts):

Officers must satisfy ANY ONE of the following service conditions in the parent cadre/department: (i) Holding analogous posts on regular basis; OR (ii) With 2 years’ service in Pay Band-2 (Rs. 9300-34800/-) with GP Rs. 4800/- or equivalent (for Group-A posts); OR (iii) With 3 years’ service in Pay Band-2 (Rs. 9300-34800/-) with GP Rs. 4600/- or equivalent. For Crime Scene Assistant (Group-B), the condition is: 5 years’ service in Pay Band-2 (Rs. 9300-34800/-) with GP Rs. 4200/- or equivalent.

The maximum age limit for appointment by deputation (ISTC) shall not exceed 56 years as on the closing date of receipt of applications. No separate minimum age is specified – the service eligibility conditions in the parent cadre effectively determine the minimum service requirement.

No application fee is required for this deputation recruitment. This is an inter-departmental nomination process – no fee is prescribed for government officers applying on deputation basis.

Selection will be made on deputation (ISTC) basis. Applications received without the required documents or after the closing date will not be considered. Cadre Authorities are required to ascertain that the particulars sent by the officials are correct as per records before forwarding nominations. Candidates who apply will not be allowed to withdraw their candidature subsequently.

Important Instructions for NIA Scientific Posts Deputation Recruitment 2026 Candidates

  • This recruitment is exclusively on Deputation (ISTC) basis – only serving officers of Central/State Govt. / Universities / Recognized Research Institutions / PSUs / Semi-Govt. / Statutory / Autonomous Organisations are eligible.
  • The maximum age limit for deputation (ISTC) appointment is 56 years as on the closing date of receipt of applications.
  • Deputation period shall ordinarily not exceed 3 years (including any prior ISTC deputation period).
  • All posts can be posted anywhere in India as per administrative requirements of NIA – choice of posting will be considered in case of vacancy.
  • All nominees will receive Special Security Allowance @ 20% of basic pay in addition to DA, HRA, TPT and other allowances as admissible under Central Government orders.
  • Applications received after the closing date or not accompanied by required documents will not be considered.
  • Candidates who apply will not be allowed to withdraw their candidature subsequently.
  • APAR dossiers must be attested on each page with rubber stamp by an officer not below the rank of Under Secretary to the Govt. of India.
