A total of 38 apprenticeship seats have been announced across four categories – Graduate Apprentice (2 seats), Technician Apprentice (6 seats), Trade Apprentice/Other (7 seats), and Trade Apprentice ITI (22 seats). If suitable candidates for a particular trade are not found, the seats may be reallocated to other trades at management’s discretion.

As on the last date of application (15th May 2026), the minimum age is 18 years and the maximum age is 25 years. Reserved category candidates are entitled to age relaxation as per Government norms. SC/ST candidates receive a relaxation of up to 5 years (maximum age: 30 years). OBC (Non-Creamy Layer) candidates receive a relaxation of up to 3 years (maximum age: 28 years). Persons with Disabilities (PwD) receive a relaxation of up to 10 years (applicable over and above the category relaxation for SC/ST/OBC). Candidates not meeting the age criteria as on the last date of application will be treated as rejected.

IREL OSCOM Apprentice Recruitment 2026 Stipend
Selected apprentices will receive a monthly stipend as prescribed under the Apprenticeship Rules, 1992, as notified by the Government of India from time to time. The stipend rate depends on the category of apprentice (Graduate, Technician, or Trade/ITI) and is revised periodically.
IREL will not provide any other benefit or financial assistance to apprentices during the training period – no accommodation, travel allowance (TA), daily allowance (DA), or any other perquisites will be provided. Apprentices must arrange their own accommodation. IREL has no obligation to offer regular employment after completion of the apprenticeship period. Upon successful completion, candidates will be relieved from the respective work area.

Selection will be based on merit determined by marks scored in the specified educational qualification. In case of a tie in marks, the candidate with higher marks in the qualifying examination will be preferred. If the tie persists, seniority in date of birth (older candidate preferred) will be the tiebreaker. No canvassing or influencing will be acceptable – this will result in rejection of the candidature.
Shortlisted candidates will be called for document verification in the order of merit and must bring original documents along with one set of self-attested photocopies. Final engagement is subject to satisfactory medical fitness as certified by IREL’s Medical Officer. Reservation is as per the Government of Odisha guidelines. A unique priority-based selection system also applies to give preference to local, land-affected, and IREL employee-related candidates.

The application process requires both online portal registration and submission of a physical hard copy application – both are mandatory. Applications without online portal registration will not be accepted, and online registration alone without hard copy submission is also insufficient. For ITI/Trade Apprentices, register on the NAPS Portal (https://www.apprenticeshipindia.org) using Establishment Code E0421210003. For Graduate/Technician Apprentices, register on the NATS Portal (https://nats.education.gov.in) using Establishment Code EORGNC000001.
After completing online registration, fill the prescribed application proforma (preferably type-written on A4 paper, printed back-to-back on the same sheet), affix a recent passport-size photograph, attach all required self-attested document copies, and send by post/courier (preferably Speed Post) to the address below. The application must reach IREL OSCOM on or before 15th May 2026. Applications received after this date will not be considered regardless of the reason.

Documents Required for IREL OSCOM Apprentice Recruitment 2026
Candidates must submit self-attested photocopies of all the following documents along with the hard copy application. Originals must be produced at the time of document verification. Candidature will be rejected if original documents are not produced or eligibility criteria are not satisfied.
For candidates with CGPA-based results, a conversion certificate from the University/Institute is required at the time of document verification. OBC (Non-Creamy Layer) certificate must be the latest valid one. EWS candidates must submit the Income and Assets Certificate from the Competent Authority. Land-affected and peripheral village candidates must produce documentary proof of the same for priority selection benefits.
Important Instructions for Candidates
- Both online portal registration (NAPS/NATS) AND hard copy application submission are mandatory.
- Hard copy application must be sent by post/courier (preferably Speed Post) only – other modes not accepted.
- Higher qualification than prescribed = candidature cancelled. Do not suppress higher qualification information.
- Distance/Part-time/Correspondence mode qualifications are NOT accepted.
