NICL Assistant Recruitment 2026: Vacancy Details

NICL recruitment is conducted on a State/Union Territory basis. Candidates can apply for vacancies in only one State/UT. The category-wise vacancy break-up (provisional) is as follows:

NICL Assistant Recruitment 2026: Eligibility Criteria

Nationality

A candidate must be a citizen of India, or a subject of Nepal or Bhutan, or a Tibetan refugee who came to India before 1st January 1962 with the intention of permanently settling in India, or a person of Indian origin who has migrated from specified countries with the intention of permanently settling in India. Candidates other than Indian citizens require an eligibility certificate issued by the Government of India.

NICL Assistant Age Limit

Minimum Age: 21 years; Maximum Age: 30 years (as on 01.07.2026). Candidates born not earlier than 2 July 1996 and not later than 1 July 2005 (both dates inclusive) are eligible to apply.

Cumulative age relaxation is not available across categories or in combination with other relaxation items.

NICL Assistant Educational Qualification

Candidates must possess Graduation in any discipline from a recognized university, or an equivalent qualification recognized by the Central Government, as on 01.07.2026. Knowledge of reading, writing, and speaking the Regional Language of the State/UT applied for is essential, and will be tested through a Regional Language Test before final selection. Candidates not found proficient in this test will be disqualified.

NICL Assistant Salary and Emoluments

Pay Scale: Rs. 36290-2115(1)-38405-2310(2)-43025-2600(5)-56025-3005(2)-62035-3660(3)-73015-3800(2)-80615-4050(5)-100865.

Total gross emoluments work out to approximately Rs. 53,000 per month in the initial stage in a metro city. Other allowances may vary by place of posting. Additional benefits include Lump Sum Domiciliary Medical Benefit, Group Mediclaim Policy, Leave Travel Subsidy, and other staff welfare schemes as per Company rules.

NICL Assistant Application Fee

Fees can be paid online via Debit Card, Credit Card, Internet Banking, IMPS, or Cash Cards/Mobile Wallets between 18 July 2026 and 7 August 2026. Fee once paid will neither be refunded nor adjusted against any future recruitment.

NICL Assistant Selection Process

Selection consists of two online examinations followed by a qualifying Regional Language Test.

Phase I: Preliminary Examination

Phase II: Main Examination

There is a penalty for wrong answers: one-fourth of the marks assigned to a question will be deducted for each wrong answer in both Prelim and Main exams. No marks are deducted for unattempted questions.

Regional Language Test

Candidates qualifying the Main Examination will be shortlisted for a Regional Language Test in the language of the State/UT applied for. This is qualifying in nature only, with no marks awarded. The final merit list is prepared State-wise and category-wise, based on Main Examination scores, subject to qualifying the Regional Language Test.

  • Caste Certificate (for SC/ST/OBC candidates), with Non-Creamy Layer clause for OBC
  • Disability Certificate and UDID card (for PwBD candidates)

  • Income and Asset Certificate (for EWS candidates)

  2. Register with your Name, Contact details, and Email ID to generate a Provisional Registration Number and Password.
  3. Fill in the application form and use “Save and Next” to verify details before final submission.
  4. Upload scanned Photograph, Signature, Left Thumb Impression, and Hand-Written Declaration as per specifications.
  5. Preview and verify the entire application before clicking “Complete Registration.”
  6. Pay the applicable application fee online.
  7. Submit the application and take a printout for future reference.

No changes are allowed to the application after final submission, so candidates should verify all details carefully before submitting.

NICL Assistant Recruitment 2026: Important Instructions

  • Candidates can apply for only one State/UT; multiple applications will render all applications invalid.
  • Candidates should ensure the name and other details match exactly with their photo identity proof.
  • Ration Card and Learner’s Driving Licence are not valid ID proofs.
  • Mobile phones and other prohibited items are not allowed inside the examination centre.
  • Any request for change of examination centre, date, or session will not be entertained.
  • Newly appointed employees will be on probation for a minimum of 6 months.
