UKMSSB Nursing Officer Recruitment 2026 – Eligibility Criteria
Essential Educational Qualification
All four post codes require a nursing degree or diploma from a recognized institution affiliated with the Indian Nursing Council, along with valid registration. Candidates must verify they hold the correct qualification category (diploma or degree) before applying, as post codes differ for each.
For Diploma Holder Posts (Post Codes 801 & 803), a candidate must possess one of the following:
- B.Sc. (Honours) in Nursing from a university/institution recognised by the Indian Nursing Council (INC), or
- B.Sc. Nursing (regular course) from an INC-recognised institution, or
- Post Basic B.Sc. Nursing from an INC-recognised institution, or
- Diploma in General Nursing and Midwifery/Psychiatric Nursing from an INC-recognised university
For Degree Holder Posts (Post Codes 802 & 804), the same set of qualifications above applies. The classification as “diploma holder” or “degree holder” in the post code is based on the nature of the original nursing programme – candidates should refer to the official notification for the exact distinction applicable to their qualification.
Additionally, candidates for all posts must have:
- Working knowledge of Hindi
- Valid/renewed permanent registration certificate from Uttarakhand Nurses and Midwives Council, Dehradun, as on the last date of online application (2 July 2026). The NUI card or receipt of application for registration is not valid – only the permanent registration certificate from Uttarakhand Nurses and Midwives Council is accepted
Desirable Qualification (either one):
- Minimum 2 years of service in the Territorial Army, or
- ‘B’ or ‘C’ certificate from National Cadet Corps (NCC)
Age Limit (as on 1 July 2025)
The age cut-off date for this recruitment is 1 July 2025. Candidates must be at least 21 years and must not have exceeded 42 years of age as on 1 July 2025.
Candidates wondering about age for SC/ST/OBC should note that the relaxation is given cumulatively with only one other permissible sub-category. Ex-Servicemen from Uttarakhand may deduct their period of military service from their actual age – if the resulting age does not exceed the prescribed maximum by more than 3 years, they are deemed to have met the upper age condition.
Domicile and Reservation Eligibility
The benefit of reservation – both vertical (SC/ST/OBC/EWS) and horizontal (PwBD, Ex-Servicemen, Freedom Fighter Dependents, Orphans, State Agitators/Dependents, Skilled Sportspersons) – is available only to permanent residents/domiciles of Uttarakhand State. Candidates not domiciled in Uttarakhand will not receive any reservation benefit even if they belong to a reserved category. Candidates must hold a valid Uttarakhand domicile certificate issued by the competent authority by the last date of application.
For OBC candidates: the OBC certificate must have been issued no earlier than 2 July 2023 (i.e., not more than 3 years before the last date of application, 2 July 2026), and must conform to the conditions of Government Order No. 310/XVII-2/16-02(OBC)/2012 dated 26 February 2016. OBC candidates falling under the creamy layer are not eligible for OBC reservation.
For EWS candidates: the Income and Asset Certificate must be valid for Financial Year 2026–27. No age relaxation is available to EWS candidates.
UKMSSB Nursing Officer Recruitment 2026 – Application Fee
The application fee must be paid online through Net Banking, Debit Card, Credit Card, or UPI. The fee is non-refundable under any circumstances, including if the application is cancelled by the candidate after payment.
Ex-Servicemen from Uttarakhand must pay the fee applicable to their own category (General/SC/ST/OBC as applicable). Fee once paid will not be refunded if the application is later cancelled by the candidate to re-apply after correction.

Troubleshooting and Common Mistakes to Avoid
Even experienced applicants frequently make errors in UKMSSB-style recruitments. Here are the most common pitfalls specific to this notification:
Uploading an NUI card or council registration receipt instead of the registration certificate is the single most common cause of disqualification at the document verification stage. The notification explicitly states that the NUI card and council application receipt are not valid. Only the permanent registration certificate from Uttarakhand Nurses and Midwives Council, Dehradun is accepted.
Using an OBC certificate older than 3 years will disqualify the reservation claim. The OBC certificate must be dated no earlier than 2 July 2023. If your current certificate expires before 2 July 2026, obtain a fresh one from the competent authority before applying.
Selecting the wrong post code is irreversible after fee payment. The four post codes differ by gender and by diploma/degree qualification. Double-check that the post code on your application matches your gender and the type of nursing qualification you hold.
PDF file size violations are a common technical rejection. The combined PDF must be between 200 KB and 2 MB. Files smaller than 200 KB or larger than 2 MB will not be accepted by the system. Merge all mandatory documents into one PDF and check the file size before uploading.
Applying on the last day is risky given that websites face heavy traffic near deadlines. UKMSSB’s notification explicitly warns candidates not to wait until the last date. Submit well in advance, and if payment fails, retry after 24 hours before re-attempting. Do not cancel a paid application to re-apply – the paid fee will not be refunded.
Leaving correction window changes till after 7 July 2026 will mean no further changes are possible. The correction window (4–7 July 2026) is the only opportunity to fix name, date of birth, category, or sub-category errors. After 7 July 2026, no corrections will be entertained under any circumstances.
Writing on or using whitener on the OMR sheet during the exam will attract negative marking. Erasing, scratching, or using whitener on the OMR bubble counts as a wrong answer and a penalty of 1/4 mark will be applied.
