The High Court of Judicature at Allahabad has officially released its Research Associate Recruitment 2026 notification (Adv. No. 01/Research Associates/2026). If you are a law graduate from the batch of 2024, 2025, or 2026 and dreaming of working alongside sitting judges – this is a once-in-a-career opportunity. Selected candidates will be posted at either Prayagraj (Allahabad) or the Lucknow Bench, assisting Hon’ble Judges with legal research, drafting, and case preparation. The honorarium is a fixed ₹40,000 per month, subject to upward revision.

Eligibility Criteria – Who Can Apply?

Educational Qualification

• ✓5-year integrated LL.B. or 3-year LL.B. degree from a Bar Council of India (BCI) recognised university
• ✓Degree obtained in academic sessions 2024, 2025, or 2026
• ✓Candidates awaiting final year LL.B. results in 2026 are also eligible to apply
• ✓Minimum 55% marks in LL.B. examination is mandatory
• ✓Working knowledge of computers – Data Entry, Word Processing, etc.

• ✓Candidates with criminal cases (convicted or chargesheeted) are not eligible
• ✓Candidates who have already worked as Research Associate at this Court cannot apply again
• ✓Candidates having more than one living spouse are ineligible

Selection Process – 3 Stages, 100 Marks Total

The selection is entirely merit-based, spread across three stages. Total weightage is 100 marks.

Stage A – Weightage Marks (20 Marks)

These marks are awarded automatically based on documents uploaded at the time of application. No exam needed for this stage.

Stage B – Screening Test (60 Marks)

A 1-hour descriptive written test carrying 60 marks. The test will contain descriptive questions (no MCQ). It will be held on August 8, 2026 at Prayagraj. Candidates shortlisted up to 3x the vacancies (or 150, as decided) will appear.

Stage C – Interview (20 Marks)

Note: These interview raw marks are then converted to 20% weightage for the final merit list.

Nature of Work – What Will You Actually Do?

Selected Research Associates will be directly attached to Hon’ble Judges at either Allahabad or Lucknow Bench. Your work will include:

• ✓Conducting legal research on points and principles assigned by the Judge
• ✓Attending court hearings and taking notes
• ✓Drafting note sheets, studying statutes, and summarising case law
• ✓Maintaining records of judgments and points of law
• ✓Assisting in preparation and research of academic papers

Important Restriction: After your engagement ends, you cannot appear before the same Judge for a period of two years – even in cases you had no involvement in. You must also take prior permission from the Court for any academic or professional activity during the engagement tenure.
